Cardinal Health Walk MS Team Received National Recognition

Cardinal Health, headquartered in Dublin, Ohio, was recently recognized by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society for their involvement with the Society’s Walk MS event. The company was given the National Team Expansion Award for 2009 during the Society’s National Team Captain’s Rally in Chicago, Illinois.

The award was given to the corporation with the highest expansion of corporate teams across the country in the past year. Cardinal Health had six Walk MS teams in 2008 and expanded to 29 Walk MS teams in 2009.

One of the largest teams was the Cardinal Health team that participated in the Columbus Walk MS event on April 18 at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. Their team captain, Yvonne Long, Senior Sales Assistant for Nuclear Pharmacy Services, attended the Chicago conference and accepted the award on behalf of Cardinal Health. She was accompanied by Joe Zipp, Cardinal Health’s Vice President of Operations.

“Multiple sclerosis touches many people both directly and indirectly,” Long said about why she worked with her employer to increase their support of the MS cause. “Keeping the momentum going is essential. I am fully confident that within my lifetime we will find a cure for MS.”

The local Cardinal Health team had 35 walkers who raised $9,000 for programs, services and MS-related research efforts to benefit people living with multiple sclerosis. Nationwide, the Cardinal Health teams raised more than $47,900.

“It was great to see Cardinal Health recognized with a national award,” said Matt Faulkner, Corporate Relations and Team Coordinator. “The Society is grateful for Cardinal Health’s involvement with our organization. We are very fortunate to have volunteers such as Yvonne and the Cardinal Health Walk MS Team support the mission of the National MS Society.”

Recordpub.com - Rough Riders, Wildcats hit hardcourt for charity game

Recordpub.com - Rough Riders, Wildcats hit hardcourt for charity game

Basketball is a sport built to have fun while also creating a competitive atmosphere.

Although, at times, the sport can be used as a vehicle for something much more important, and on Nov. 20 that is exactly what will happen at Kent Roosevelt High School.

The Rough Riders girls basketball team will host the Mogadore Wildcats in a charity basketball game, with all proceeds of the game going to the Ohio Buckeye Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

The charity game is just one of many similar events Kent Roosevelt girls basketball head coach Craig Foreman and his staff have introduced for their players.

Foreman began a community-service effort with his players and staff at the beginning of the 2008-09 season and will continue their campaign throughout this year.

THANK YOU ROUGH RIDERS! We just received word that this event raised over $2000!
